I pulled this Lemans out of a pond (literally!). It had rolled down a hill and the back was under water almost to the back doors. After winching it out of the water (no small feat with only a comealong), we drug her to a friend's house to begin the transformation.

This probably wasn't the best car to make a drag car out of, but since I also have a '66 GTO I've been wanting a car I can build up as a twin & this was it. This car also has an almost mint interior despite how I found her. There was no motor or trans, but I had those gathered up already.

The engine is a .060" over 455 Pontiac (462 cubic inches after boring). It has a 780-cfm Gary Williams carb. The heads are off a '71 Pontiac 400. They've been ported and flowed by Jim Butler Performance. Cam is a solid-lifter Ultradyne with approximately .600" lift. The trans is a Turbo 400 out of a Cadillac, but when I had it rebuilt I installed the short tailshaft. The torque converter is a 3000rpm-stall B&M Holeshot.

Here's a pic from when I first got it running. I don't have her painted yet (this was when I was stripping the old paint), but the color will eventually be Orbit Orange (a GTO color from 1970 that's a bright bright yellow with a slight orange tint, like in this pic).

The pic below is with the Holley Street Dominator (no longer in production) intake manifold. With this intake & no nitrous she's run a best of 12.77 @ 108mph. I'm currently installing a Holley Victor intake which along with the engine blueprinting I'm doing should get me into the low 12s.
